Camille J. Mackler
Founder & Principal Strategist
Camille Mackler is an immigration attorney, policy strategist, and advocate with over twenty years of experience at the intersection of migration, national security, and human rights.
Ms. Mackler has been on the frontlines of nearly every major U.S. immigration crisis of the past two decades. She was one of the first attorneys at JFK Airport during the 2017 Muslim Travel Ban, where she helped form a coalition of legal service providers that became the foundation for her later work. She worked to reunite asylum-seeking families separated at the border, helped coordinate the evacuation of Afghan allies after the Taliban takeover, and most recently has led efforts to address the needs of newly arrived immigrants in New York City.
She is the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Immigrant ARC, a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to improving immigrants' access to legal counsel and justice. Under her leadership, New York City and New York State increased their combined investment in immigration legal services from $10 million in 2013 to over $100 million today. She also helped draft the nation's first state-based right-to-counsel law for immigrants facing deportation.
Ms. Mackler now leads The Other 54 Strategies, a consultancy addressing global migration challenges and helping organizations reframe policy dialogues for systems change. She is a former Visiting Senior Fellow with the Truman Center for National Policy and a member of the Truman National Security Project.
She has testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee and argued cases before U.S. Federal Courts of Appeals. She was named a 2024 Trailblazer in Law by City & State magazine and holds degrees from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and New York Law School. Read Camille’s full bio here.
